The Saint Lucia Agriculture Extension Foundation (SLAEF) promotes permaculture and climate-smart agriculture to strengthen food and nutrition security across Saint Lucia and the Caribbean. Working with farmers and communities, SLAEF supports practical, locally driven solutions that increase food production while restoring soil health, biodiversity, and ecosystem resilience.
Guided by permaculture ethics "care for the earth, care for people, and fair share" SLAEF integrates sustainable farming practices, appropriate technology, and farmer training to reduce dependence on food imports, improve public health, and build climate resilience. Through capacity building, agro-processing, and regional collaboration, SLAEF empowers farmers to produce affordable, nutritious food while creating healthier communities and more sustainable food systems.
