Who We Are
The Saint Lucia Agriculture Extension Foundation (SLAEF) is a non-profit organization working to transform agriculture in Saint Lucia and the wider Caribbean through sustainable, community-based approaches.
Our Purpose
To promote, support, and implement an integrated approach to food and nutrition security, climate resilience, and public health by repositioning agriculture as a driver of sustainable development.
Our Approach
Address the interconnected challenges of climate change, food insecurity, public health, and economic vulnerability.
Apply permaculture ethics and principles, care for the earth, care for people, and fair share, to farming systems and community development.
Integrate smart agriculture and appropriate technologies to improve productivity while restoring soil health and ecosystems.
Reduce dependence on food imports and increase access to affordable, nutritious, locally produced food.
Community Empowerment
Build the capacity of farmers through training, organizational strengthening, and knowledge sharing.
Support farmer-led innovation, agro-processing, and market access at local, regional, and global levels.
Strengthen community resilience by creating sustainable livelihoods and healthier food systems.
Our Impact
Through partnerships and innovation, SLAEF works to reduce food import bills, improve nutrition outcomes, lower the burden of diet-related diseases, and build resilient agricultural communities for future generations.
